The Pittsburgh Japanese Film Festival is one of the largest Asian film festivals in the Rust Belt. Founded in 2016, the festival has grown to feature exclusive content, regionals premieres of Japanese cinema, and signature events highlighting the rick and innovative film culture of Japan.

Hosted each spring at Row House Cinema, the festival features classic cinema, new releases, anime, dramas, and more.

The Venue

The Pittsburgh Japanese Film Festival is hosted each year at Row House Cinema — Lawrenceville’s beloved, single screen independent cinema. Located in the lively Butler Street business district, Row House is known for its unique programming, gourmet concessions, and adjoining bar and taproom.

Code of Conduct and Accessibility

We strive to make The Pittsburgh Japanese Film Festival an accessible, inclusive, and safe celebration. Please see below for our most up to date code of conduct for visitors, vendors, and staff.

The Pittsburgh Japanese Film Festival (JFFPGH) is a safe, respectful, inclusive, and fun environment for everyone to enjoy movies and events.

This Code of Conduct applies to everyone at the venue and participants in our social media channels. Guests, staff, VIPs, vendors, and press will be held to the same standards. We reserve the right to remove or ban any person who does not adhere to the Code of Conduct.

We do not tolerate harassment of any kind, including:

  • Intimidation or threats
  • Physical assault of any type
  • Unwanted sexual attention
  • Inappropriate disruption of events
  • Hurtful language
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Bullying or stalking

Especially in connection to:

  • Race or ethnicity
  • Gender identity or presentation
  • Sex or sexual orientation
  • Disability, medical condition or pregnancy
  • National origin
  • Age
  • Accents
  • Religion
  • Citizenship or legal status

What To Do

If you are asked to stop any harassing behavior, STOP immediately. Seriously

If you experience or witness any form of harassment, please contact the nearest staff member. A manager will address the situation. To file a formal complaint, email info@jffpgh.org. All complaints will be investigated – please provide detailed information and your contact information.

If you feel unsafe in your immediate situation, alert our staff, move to a safe location and dial 911

  • The theater has two wheelchair locations, each with a companion seat
  • The bathroom on the main level is an ADA accessible restroom, equipped with a baby changing station
  • Audio amplification systems are available for all screenings
  • Closed captioning cupholder devices for select screenings. Each showtime will state if closed captioning will be available
  • The front door is wide enough for a power chair to enter. The door is NOT an automatic swing door. The door opens outward. There is a shallow slope up to the front door from the sidewalk.
